Description:

With Hull being the 2017 UK City of Culture, there could hardly be a better time to study Creative Music Technology here. As well as being at the heart of a huge cultural festival, you'll enjoy brand new facilities – like Middleton Hall, where we're investing £9.5 million to create a world-class concert venue, music theatre and cinema, with industry-standard recording facilities. The Duality Studio, our flagship recording facility sits alongside other state-of-the-art resources. These include a 3D surround sound 16.4 Ambisonic Studio, a 20 iMac lab, our Salmon Grove recording and mixing studios, additional large mixing and recording facilities, plus plenty of band practice rooms and ensemble rehearsal spaces. And they're all available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

This innovative degree allows you to develop your talents as a performer, songwriter, composer, producer or sound engineer in a friendly, supportive environment. We emphasise the practical and creative aspects of music making – so when you graduate, you'll be well versed in industry-standard hardware and software. You can adapt the course to follow your own interests through diverse modules covering studio practice, production, composition, studio design, performance and musicology, all allowing you to explore and develop your own musical direction. Our staff is comprised of practicing composers, performers, researchers and engineers.
