This MEng course distinguishes itself by allowing you to home in on a preferred energy specialism in the final year of your studies. This focused research project allows you to excel in a particular field - with renewable energy systems, CO2 utilisation and bio-fuels among the many options available. Academia meets industry throughout your time here, and the region’s thriving ‘Energy Estuary’ gives you the benefits of studying close to over 350 engineering and process giants – including Phillips66, Total, Novartis, BP Chemicals, Croda, Cristal, Smith & Nephew and Reckitt Benckiser. Some of your training takes place at the £8 million Centre for Assessment of Technical Competency Humber (CATCH), a full-scale plant facility. The University has very strong links with Green Port Hull, enabling you to embark upon a unique year’s placement.

The degree was developed in line with the requirements of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, and the academic criteria for registration as a Chartered Engineer - the professional qualification that sets the gold standard in chemical, biochemical, process and related areas – and provides the mandatory four years of study required for accreditation as a Chartered Engineer. Combine this with the opportunity to boost your employability by spending your penultimate year either applying the theory learned in previous years to real life projects on industrial placement, or by studying at one of our partner institutions in Europe, Asia, North America or Australia.
